03/27/2017: Assailants abducted John Szlazak in Singamadgu, Chhattisgarh, India. Szlazak, a Canadian cyclist, was released unharmed on March 29, 2017. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the kidnapping to the Communist Party of India - Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and stated that Szlazak was suspected of being a police informant.
