Incident Summary:

04/21/2017: Assailants, including suicide bombers, attacked a military base in Mazari Sharif, Balkh, Afghanistan. At least 256 soldiers and 10 assailants were killed and 64 soldiers were injured in the ensuing clash. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the death of two Taliban members in the area. In addition, sources also suspected that the Haqqani Network may have been involved in the attack.
