Incident Summary:

05/09/2017: After days of provocations by a rival group, assailants attacked Christian civilians and destroyed houses, churches, and medical facilities in Alindao, Basse-Kotto, Central African Republic. The incident began as a violent door-to-door campaign searching for members or supporters of the rival group, but quickly escalated into mass sexual violence and executions. At least 136 people were killed and another 110 were injured in the assault. An unknown number of civilians were also abducted, and the outcome of the kidnapping is unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Union for Peace in Central Africa (UPC).
