Incident Summary:

05/09/2017: Assailants abducted Ummer Fayaz in Batpora, Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Fayaz, an Indian Army Lieutenant, was killed and his body was discovered the following morning, on May 10, 2017. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Sources also suspected that the incident was carried out by the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), which denied involvement.
