Incident Summary:
05/21/2017: Assailants opened fire on a Pakistani Police vehicle in Dhoraji neighborhood, Karachi, Pakistan. At least two officers were killed and another officer was injured in the assault. The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi separately claimed responsibility for the attack. Authorities also attributed the attack to Ansar al-Sharia (Pakistan).

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
