Incident Summary:

06/21/2017: Assailants detonated explosives at the Great Mosque of al-Nuri in Mosul, Nineveh, Iraq. At least 100 people were killed and an unknown number were injured, while the mosque was destroyed in the blast. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). ISIL denied responsibility and claimed that United States aircraft were responsible for the incident.
