Incident Summary:

10/02/2017: Assailants overtook the town and abducted approximately 128 residents in Qaryatayn, Homs, Syria. All 128 hostages were executed by the assailants over the next 19 days before the town was retaken by security forces on October 21, 2017. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
