Incident Summary:
10/15/2017: Assailants armed with mortars and firearms attacked Karam Al-Qawadis military checkpoint in Sheikh Zuweid, North Sinai, Egypt. This was one of six coordinated attacks targeting checkpoints in the area on this date. At least 30 people, including 24 assailants and six soldiers, were killed and 21 people, including one assailant and 20 soldiers, were injured across the ensuing clashes. The Sinai Province of the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
