Incident Summary:

11/07/2017: A suicide bomber detonated outside of the Shamshad TV station in Kabul, Afghanistan. Assailants then entered the building and opened fire on staff, holding them hostage for two to three hours before security forces stormed the building, rescuing the hostages. At least three assailants, including the suicide bomber, and two security guards were killed, and 20 people were injured in the attack. The Khorasan Chapter of the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack and stated that Shamshad TV station was targeted because it broadcasted anti-Islamic views.
