Incident Summary:
12/17/2017: Assailants attacked an Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) position in Buloloma, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. At least one soldier and an unknown number of assailants were killed and an unknown number of assailants were injured in the ensuing clash. This was one of two related incidents in the area on this date. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
