12/31/2017: Assailants launched mortars at the Hmeymim Air Base in Jableh, Lattakia, Syria. Two Russian soldiers were killed and ten people were injured in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Muslim extremists.
