Incident Summary:
03/28/2018: Assailants opened fire on a Hadramawt Elite Forces convoy in Al-Aqeq, Hadramawt, Yemen. At least five assailants and nine soldiers were killed and four soldiers were injured in the ensuing clash. Additionally, an unknown number of soldiers were reported missing following the assault. Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
