Incident Summary:

06/00/2018: Sometime between April 1 and August 31, 2018, assailants raided an unknown village in Gbudwe state or Tambura state, South Sudan. This was one of at least 30 attacks between April and August, 2018 in which 887 people were abducted. At least 128 hostages were released as of February 4, 2020 while the fate of the remaining victims is unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Sudan People's Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO), noting that many of the female victims were sexually assaulted and were forced to marry members of the group, while many male victims were forced into becoming fighters for the group.
