Incident Summary:
08/14/2018: Assailants opened fire on the vehicle of Norma Azucena Rodríguez Zamora, causing the vehicle to flip over between San Alejo and Tejocotal in Hidalgo, Mexico. At least two people were injured and Zamora, a newly-elected Lower House of Congress member, was abducted in the attack. Zamora was released on August 16, 2018. No group claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators.
