Incident Summary:

09/00/2018: Sometime between September 1, 2018 and September 15, 2018, assailants abducted 100 Wa Christians from the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) in Mong Pauk district Shan, Myanmar. The hostages were released on October 5, 2018. This was one of two coordinated kidnappings targeting Christian civilians in Shan state in early September. The United Wa State Army claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the abduction was carried out in order to keep Christians from forcibly converting locals.
