Incident Summary:

10/16/2018: Assailants poisoned and abducted 12 security personnel in Mirjaveh, Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran. The hostages were taken into Pakistan. At least five hostages were released as of November 15, 2018 and four additional hostages were released on March 22, 2019. The fate of the remaining hostages is unknown. Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in response to the repression of members of the Sunni Muslim community within Iran.
