12/12/2018: Assailants attacked a checkpoint belonging to the police officers providing security for the Herat-Khawf railroad in the Cheshmadam, Herat, Afghanistan. At least five police officers were killed, four were injured, and three were abducted. The outcome of the kidnapping is unknown. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to the Taliban.
