Incident Summary:

12/19/2018: Assailants raided a military detachment in New Tubigon, Agusan del Sur, Philippines. At least 14 people, including two soldiers and 12 Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) members, were abducted and several firearms were stolen in the attack. Six of the hostages were released on February 14, 2019. The remaining eight hostages were released on February 19, 2019. The New People's Army (NPA) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in order to force the government to agree to a ceasefire over the Christmas holiday.
