No group claimed responsibility; however, authorities arrested an individual in connection with the attack. Sources noted that the Comet Ping Pong restaurant is the subject of Pizzagate, "an internet conspiracy theory that falsely claims a sex ring run by celebrities and prominent Democrats is based out of its nonexistent basement."
