Incident Summary:

02/02/2019: Assailants abducted four Red Cross employees while traveling near Djibo, Sahel, Burkina Faso. One hostage was released as of March 23, 2019 and two other hostages were released as of April 29, 2019. The fate of the remaining hostage is unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Ansar al-Islam (Burkina Faso) and Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM).
