03/09/2019: Thomas J. Heard, a transgender black woman, sprayed a white civilian with pepper spray in the Bronx, New York City, New York, United States. One woman was injured in the attack. This was one of five incidents that occurred in New York and was perpetrated by this assailant. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents. Heard approached the woman and asked if she was white before spraying her with pepper spray.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
