07/28/2019: An assailant opened fire on attendees at the Gilroy Garlic Festival at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, California, United States. Three people were killed and 17 other people were injured in the assault. The assailant was shot and killed by police officers responding to the attack. Santino William Legan, an unaffiliated individual, claimed responsibility for the incident and wrote on social media prior to the attack, "Read Might is Right by Ragnar Redbeard. Why overcrowd towns and pave more open space to make room for hordes of mestizos and Silicon Valley white tw**s?"
