Incident Summary:
08/04/2019: An assailant, armed with an assault-style firearm, opened fire on civilians outside the Ned Peppers bar along East 5th street in Dayton, Ohio, United States. At least 10 people, including the assailant, were killed and 27 other people were injured in the attack. The assailant's sister was among the victims. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, authorities identified the assailant as Connor Stephen Betts. Sources noted that although Betts identified himself as a leftist and had "an obsession with violence and mass shootings," he did not have a racial or political motive for carrying out the attack.
