08/22/2019: Assailants threw petrol bombs at the home of Timothy Mtambo, chairperson of the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC), in Ishalikira, Mwaulambya, Chitipa, Malawi. There were no reported casualties in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Democratic Progressive Party (Malawi).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
