Incident Summary:

09/05/2019: Assailants opened fire on members of the former anti-terrorist unit of the Coordination of the Movements of the Azawad (CMA) in Kidal city, Kidal, Mali. Three people, including military leader Ahbi Ag Ahmayad and two bodyguards, were killed in the attack. Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) claimed responsibility for the incident and accused one of the victims of collaborating with French military forces, stating that he translated for troops and recruited spies.
