Incident Summary:
09/13/2019: Assailants attacked Gubio, Borno, Nigeria. This was one of four related attacks to occur on villages in Borno on this day. Six soldiers and a civilian militia leader were killed across attacks. Additionally, an unknown number of people were reported missing in the attacks and their whereabouts are unknown. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to Al-Barnawi faction (Islamic State West Africa Province-ISWAP) of Boko Haram.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
