12/14/2019: Assailants ambushed Fernando Banayao, a barangay captain, in Gumitan, Davao del Sur, Philippines. Banayao and one other person were killed in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources suspected that the New People’s Army (NPA) was involved in the attack.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
