Incident Summary:

05/02/2020: Assailants in police uniforms approached the residence of the village administrator in an attempt to abduct Win Hlaing in Kyaw Kaing, Rakhine, Myanmar. Hlaing, a National League for Democracy (NLD) township-level executive committee member, was not harmed as he was able to successfully hide from the assailants. This was one of two related kidnapping attempts of Hlaing in Kyaw Kaing on the same day. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources suspected that the attacks was carried out by the Arakan Army (AA), which denied involvement.
