08/30/2020: Assailants opened fire on a military post between Kawkareik and Myawaddy, Kayin, Myanmar. Two soldiers were killed in the attack. This was one of two related incidents in the area on this date. A suspect claimed that he was trained and ordered to carry out the attack by the Karen National Union, but the group denied involvement. Sources also attributed the attack to the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA).
