09/01/2020: Assailants attacked Nigerian soldiers in Garin Giwa, Kukawa district, Borno, Nigeria. At least 10 soldiers were killed in the attack. This was one of two similar attacks in Borno on this date. The Al-Barnawi faction (Islamic State West Africa Province-ISWAP) faction of Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the incident.
