8/2/1970: Unknown perpetrators taped a bomb to a police car driven by Officer Robert F. Maloney in Berkeley, California, United States. The bomb exploded, rupturing the gasoline tank, and sending flames twenty five feet up into the air. Officer Maloney was able to escape the vehicle unharmed but the car was destroyed.
