03/31/1998: The Macheteros claimed responsibility for a firebombing at a superaqueduct construction project in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The Macheteros took responsibility for the incident and stated that the bombing signaled the beginning of a series of attacks in defense of Puerto Rico and its natural resources from the Government of Puerto Rico. The explosion caused significant damage to the project but caused no injuries.
