08/21/1998: Mufti Said-Mohammad Abubakarov, Dagestan's Islamic leader, died along with his brother and his driver when their car was blown up by a radio-controlled bomb after prayers at the main mosque in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia. No group claimed responsibility for this attack.
