Incident Summary:

10/11/1998: A bomb detonated in a vehicle carrying seven people, including three municipal guards, in Akkal Azzegagh, Algeria. All passengers were killed and the vehicle was destroyed. Unidentified armed assailants, who were hiding along the road at the time of the explosion, began firing shots, which injured eight other people. No group or individual claimed credit for this attack, but Islamists were suspected.
