08/10/1999: A gunman armed with a submachine gun opened fire in the lobby of the North Valley Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills, California, U.S.A., injuring five people. Buford O'Neal Furrow Jr. surrendered to authorities in Las Vegas, Nevada and reportedly told police authorities that he intended the attack as "a wake-up call to America to kill Jews."
