Incident Summary:

6/24/2000: Shepherd Mushonga, the opposition candidate for Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) for the northern constituency of Mazoe East, was the target of a bombing in the northern town of Chiweshe, Mazowe District, Zimbabwe. Supporters of ZANU-PF, the ruling party, detonated a remote-controlled bomb while Mushonga was at a gas station. He was not injured in the attack, but the petrol storage tank at the station was set ON fire and his car was damaged in the explosion.
