09/14/2000: At 8:30 pm, Jose Ramon Rekalde, a former Basque Minister of Interior and Education for Basque Country, was shot in the jaw as he stepped out of his car on Igueldo Hill, San Sebastian. He was immediately taken to hospital, where he survived with moderate injuries. On 09/22/2000, ETA claimed responsibility for the attack in the Basque newspaper Gara.
