Incident Summary:

03/16/2001: Suspected members of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Fighting (GSPC) targeted members of the security services in Aomar, Algeria. They, first, assassinated Din Brahim of the Judicial Police Mobile Brigade. The attackers then ambushed another group of soldiers riding in two cars. The attackers fired at the cars from all directions killing six soldiers and injuring three others. They then set one of the cars on fire and stole three Kalashnikovs and two Simonovs from the soldiers. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
