Incident Summary:

11/18/2001: The United Self Defense Units of Colombia (AUC) kidnapped six mayors in the mountains of Antioquia Department, Colombia. The kidnapped were engaged in a meeting to negotiate with the National Liberation Army (ELN). The AUC said they would not allow the mayors to negotiate grass-roots truces with the ELN. The victims were released on November 20, 2001.
