12/13/2002: A package bomb exploded at the office of Senator German Vargas in Bogota, Distrito Capital, Colombia. The package contained a book that had been delivered as a Christmas gift; it exploded when the Senator opened the book, blowing off one of his fingers. The Senator is a outspoken supporter of President Alvaro Uribe, who states that the attack was the responsibility of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
