06/13/2005: Soldiers on their way to set up a security checkpoint to secure dignitaries attending a ceremony were ambushed in their truck at Bessang Pass near the town of Cervantes, Philippines, by members of the communist New People's Army. Eleven were killed, three injured, and the ceremony was called off.
