11/07/2005: The Taliban claimed responsibility for a failed suicide car bombing attack on the governor of Afghanistan’s Helmand Province in Lashkargah. Although the suicide bomber was seriously injured in the assassination attempt, Helmand's Governor, Shir Mohammad Akhundzada, was uninjured in the attack.
