Additional Information Bogotá Caracol Colombia Radio reported on April 4 that according to Police and Army intelligence, an alleged closeness of Arauquita's Council President Jose Manuel Roa Montanez to a political ELN [Army of National Liberation] militia structure known as "Association of Enterprising Revolutionary Youth" in Arauca could be the motive behind his death. But police authorities were trying to establish why the Council President did not inform authorities in charge of his protection about the trip to La Paz Police Inspection on April1, 2006. --The ongoing dispute for territories and coca traffic routes and corridors in Arauca between the FARC and the ELN resulted in the deaths of dozens of rebels and guerrilla leaders in the previous months.
