Incident Summary:

4/8/2006: Over ten members of a group affiliated with the Salafist Group for Preaching and Fighting (GSPC) ambushed a patrol of Algerian soldiers on a search operation on a road between the villages of Iallalen and Ighil Elbir. Following a one hour firefight, the assailants escaped back into the woods. There were no casualties sustained by either side during the incident.
