Incident Summary:

05/24/2006: In the first of two related events blamed on Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tigers (200605250007), at least three Sri Lankan soldiers and policemen were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in was struck by a Claymore mine explosion in the district of Vavuniya. Military officials suspected that Tamil Tiger rebels were responsible for the attack, but no arrests have been made. No claim of responsibility was reported.
