Incident Summary:

09/21/2007: Afzal Khan Lala’s driver and bodyguard were killed when an unknown gunman attempted to assassinate the former Pakistani federal minister in the village of Matta in the Swat district of Pakistan. The gunman fired on the car as Lala was leaving from a funeral. The attack was believed to be carried out by pro-Taliban militants.
