Incident Summary:
08/14/2008: On Thursday night, an alleged Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebel detonated an improvised explosive device that killed seven people and injured 52 others during local festivities at a town fair in downtown Ituango, Antioquia department, Colombia. The device was hidden in a trash can beside a lamppost in the center of Ituango. Several nearby shops were destroyed in the blast. A man thought to be responsible for the bombing attack who is known as "El Pajaro" was arrested soon after the blast. No claim of responsibility was made for the incident.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators. For example, a bomb that exploded in a building would be counted as a success even if it did not, for example, succeed in bringing the building down or inducing government repression.
