02/12/2009: On Thursday, insurgents fired eleven mortar bombs at a U.N.- chartered ship that was docked in the local port in Mogadishu, Somalia. The attack killed between two and four civilians, injured between six and eight others, two police officers, and damaged the port. Al-Shabaab al-Islamiya claimed responsibility.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
