Incident Summary:

08/05/2009: On Wednesday, in an unspecified city in Narathiwat, Thailand, armed assailants fired upon and killed two land department officials. The bodies of the land department officials were found dumped in a rubber plantation in Narathiwat. The assailants also stole the victims' vehicle and personal property. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed Muslim separatists were responsible.
