Incident Summary:

08/12/2009: On Wednesday night at about 0300, in Mpama, Walikale, Nord-Kivu, Congo (Kinshasa) armed assailants fired upon the area of the Bisie Cassiterite mine, killing three police officers and 16 miners while wounding at least 45 miners. Mineral ores and mining equipment were also taken. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed the Mai-Mai and the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) were responsible.
